Suppression of Speech

Sundance Vacations - Suppression of Speech

This is not a review, but a truth that needs to be added to the full context of Sundance Vacations and Travel Advantage Network.

Whenever a client is unhappy and wants to cancel, particularly when they file attorney general complaints, this is the Termination and Release document Sundance and Travel Advantage Network makes clients sign. If you read the attached document, you'll see that it forces the signer (the client) to say that everything was peachy with Sundance (even though the client cancelled) and forces the client to retract and erase any previous complaints or negative reviews they have posted on the internet.

there's much more in the document. This is the truth, this is how the company acts beyond their PR words, this is how they suppress speech.

The 5 clicks for "***" above must be sundance employees - who else would click "***" on a document produced as evidence of how Sundance tries to cover up the truth?

Shame on this company. :( :(

Wow ! THIS IS NOT A SCAM !

Who signs a contract and doesn't read it ? ***

I own and love it.

Read reviews from the actual members of this program...

I looked up the company and checked it out before attending their presentation

A business doesn't stay afloat for 23 yrs by being a fraud, nor does one that is beating out competitors like royal Caribbean , wyndham and many others.....

Save money and travel better..... He'll yes

Sundance Vacations - Don't Do It!

Got a call telling me I won a cruise. So like everyone else showed up to get my prize and listen to their "no-pressure" presentation. They wore me down after an hour and a half and I bought a $6,000 package. It was impossible to find any available properties. Finally, after dealing with the rude representatives I was able to book a place in the New Jersey Shore. It ended up costing me $1200 and the place was a trashy dump. I tried to cancel and they wouldn't let me until I paid off the $6,000. Then they told me I could cancel and I wouldn't have to pay the $300 annual fee anymore. So they canceled my package, without any refund and I used one of the vacations they sold me. The most expensive mistake I've ever made.

Hi I'm Patrice B. I went to a Sundance seminar in Monroeville PA and me and my husband had a great time.

I don't feel it was high pressure at all. We did more chatting about fun times than being pressured.

We did NOT buy a vacation but did receive: A 3 night cruise for 2 which I have already booked in 3 simple steps and just mailed in our dinner rebate for up to 20.00 yesterday. I'm betting I get the rebate, if not, I'M STILL GOING TO THE BAHAMAS!!!

Sundance Vacations is the same as Travel Advantage Network, Smartravel, Tri-State Financial, etc. They are all an elaborately, and purposefully, complex vacation club.

You can get far cheaper prices by doing your own research, and you can go anywhere you want - not only to the locations Sundance Vacations and Travel Advantage Network offer. Plus you don't have to pay annual fees to use the internet and find the best price, unlike this vacation club.

The Real Sundance Vacations

Sundance Vacations

Dowd Marketing

Tri-State Financial

Travel Advantage Network

They are all the same elaborate scheme. Dowd Marketing is the group that gets people to sign up for the sweepstakes at events and then telemarkets them to get them to a sales appointment. Sundance Vacations does the sales presentation. And Tri-State Financial gives the "loan" for the vacation package. Travel Advantage Network is the company that you book the vacations through, supposedly, if you can ever find anything that isn't a dump and is actually available.

It's a fake loan Tri-State is run in the exact same office as Sundance Vacations and owned by the very same people. You're actually not buying anything at all because if you don't pay your annual service fee to Travel Advantage Network it doesn't matter how many thousands of dollars you've given Sundance Vacations you can't use your vacations. So you've actually purchased nothing.

All of these consumers talking about how they've been notified by Sundance that they had won a cruise and just had to sit through a presentation to receive their free gift. A direct violation of their signed agreement with the New Jersey Attorney General: "3.2 Sundance Vacations shall not notify any person by any means, as part of an advertising plan or scheme, that he or she has won a prize and then require him or her to do any act, purchase any other item or submit to a sales promotion effort, in violation of N.J.S.A 56:8-2.3"

Don not fall for the lies

As we all do, I entered a drawing for a free cruise, of course, they call.. Knowing the cruise was based on an appointment with the agency for their "60" minute "discussion". My husband and I go in and listen just for the cruise. Well their so called "no pressure to buy anything" line is a bunch of crock. They don't allow you to go home and discuss it in PRIVATE or even give you enough time to look over their materials.

Yes, I'm talking about Sundance aka Sunscam Vacations. Okay, the deal was too good, 10 paid vacations plus excess inventory AND hot weeks...these were vacation vacancies that they wanted to fill up so we had unlimited vacations at $350 for a week or use our paid ones at a sum over $500. Okay, we thought, we can let our family and friends use this as well, save them some money and well, get my bill paid sooner. Unfortunately, the deal we were told we were buying was NOT what we got. After leaving the office, I received the weekly email about excess inventory and hot weeks. I looked at the properties and was immediately disappointed. The rooms look outdated, the beds look uncomfortable and the rooms look small. I've stayed in hotels that were better looking. I've sent emails to them asking about the "properties" we were told we would be staying in but of course no answer, no reply. I'm upset to find out that in order to get the "better" rooms we will have to sign up for VIP which cost more, what? More money for what we should already have, seriously?

Now I'm in the process to undo my wrong by canceling this membership. So if anyone receives a call from Sundance, hang up. You don't get what you pay for. If you don't believe me, check out THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINT sites involving them. The cruise, well it's not worth it because its NOT FREE and depending on when you want to go, you probably could find a trip cheaper, I know I can and have gotten discount vacations for a family of 7, 7 day cruise for $2500.. A 7 day vacation home stay in Florida & Myrtle Beach for $300 each. So don't believe the hype this is a ripoff.

Thanks guys for sharing. I got called this Wed and an appt was immediately scheduled for the very next day Thursday as if we don't work or have something, so I push it back to the following week, but they rush me into going this saturday.

I knew something is fishy when they wanted both my wife and I to go and must bring IDs. This sounded exactly like DirectBuy, claiming to give you the best price on whatever you buy mostly furniture, appliance, remodeling, big ticket items, blah blah blah. And yes you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Anyway, did my research and found your stories.

Thank you. I won't be wasting my time going to their presentation tomorrow.

Sundance Vacations & TAN /Travel Advantage Network

OPERATION --- REFUND ALL CUSTOMERS , in conjuction with OPERATION SHUTDOWN SUNDANCE & TAN NETWORK

What you need to know if you have purchased a package: Immediately contact your Attoney General for the state in which you reside. Tell them about your experience.

Also, request an internal investigation of the TAN/Sundace company. Ask the attorney general to audit the availability against "Time sold" The AG will find that the TAN network can NOT fulfill all of the travel packages it has sold based upon the amount of available inventory. Also, ask the AG to audit the packages against the price price sold. You see the sales people will sell you a package for any price that you are willing to pay.

Therefore nobody is legally obligated to pay more than the lowest sold price. Both the Sundance Company and the Travel network (TAN) are legally obligated to refund every PAST customer in additiion to current customers.

... Contact your attorney general and report this company.

Bait and switch at it's best

I stayed in someone else's condo once and loved it so I signed up. Paid $1800 up front for six weeks prepaid travel weeks. Not like a timeshare but prepaid vacations. Tried to use it a couiple of more times and they only had Saturday-Saturday and to get cheaper airfare I couldn't use it because I was traveling Weds-Weds. So about three years later I was able to finally use it and had to pay back 'usage' fees of $350 a year plus mysteriously they didn't have any one- or two-bedroom places left so I had to pay for an upgrade that I didn't want and then another fee for using it during a peak week (which is pretty much all of them). And then the condo was *** and the owners association screamed at my kids all the time. So, mark that resort off the list. But otherwise it was okay...except a sales person came to see me while I was there and convinced me to 'upgrade' my plan to VIP and I would et all these extra weeks. Somehow now I was going to be paying $200 a month for prepaid weeks! Tried to cancel that arrangement and go back to the plan I had already prepaid for, and now I have lost all of my money that I paid originally. It's a scam, they never sent me any statements, and filed a collection action for $3000 which is for something I never used. They are a huge scam.

Sundance free trip

I can't believe what just happened to my sister and i !!! We went to the presentation, did not buy anything. We chose are free trip to Mexico for attending the presentation. We had to select three possible dates and a deposit of $198 for tax, which at the time thought that was fine. We both were very excited for the trip. We received a confirmation via email ,that they had received the $198 and that they would contact us at least 45days prior to an available date, and it said do not reply to email. So, we waited, and waited the first date passed the second date was comming up and still we did not hear from the. I decided to call to see if we were going on the last date. When I called a was put on hold for a half hour to be told that I had to go online and call different number. I called that number ,again an other 30 min hold. Finally this lady "LESSLIE " was extremely rude ,claiming that I was suppose to call them awhile back. She claimmed that an email was sent to me, which I never received "scam" she said that the there was nothing available and that the deposit was going to mailed back. I said " no, what is your name and I to speek to your supervisor , she pretend to not hear me , sha said "your breaking up" I said dont act like you can't hear me . she then said their all in a meeting, I said fine transfer me to their voicemail. She transferred me to her own voicemail!!! Unreal I still can not believe what just happened , I'm going to call tomorrow morning again.

Thanks guys for sharing. I got called today and a appt was schedule for this saturday, bu t I won't be wasting my time going to their presentation.

I was really worried about the cruise too, but it actually worked out fine for us. We said no to all their sales pitches, got our cruise vouchers, picked our dates, paid the taxes, and actually went on the cruise without any problems.

we were surprised it all worked out because we kept expecting something to fail, but it was fun and we're glad we went.

We still had to pay for transportation and a hotel room, but the flights and cruise were free. We had been planning on going on a cruise anyway, so it worked well for us

Guest

Your right, they sent back our tax money and no trip. What's scam!!!

They said they were a lease company "spirit insentive" that took care of the trip bookings and could not do anything about it.

So, I called Sundance they said they said they were going to resend me a knew code to select new dates. I still haven't received anything yet....

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME !! IT'S A SCAM.

I promise its a scam. I said no to what they were trying to sell me because over the phone I was told I won a free cruise. so all I wanted was my free cruise. they wouldn't stop trying to sucker me even after I said " I'm only here for my free cruise prize ".

so I go home home with the free cruise paper, and I book it. they asked me to pick three different dates, just incase the first or second date gets canceled. I just got a call from them saying all dates are cancelled u will have your money for taxes refunded. so basically I get nothing!

what they do is cancel all your dates with bull excuses then refund your money. so basically you don't win anything! and all you do is waste your time and planning.

I think their company should be shut down. don't waste your time it will only make u furious like me

Sundance Vacations / Spirit Incentives

Don't fall for their scheme!!! My husband and I attended a Sundance Vacations promotion and were told we would receive a FREE cruise for two as an incentive for attending the seminar. My experience told me this is to good to be true but I went along with the instuctions provided. After sending in my $198 deposit (which I was told would be used for any taxes / port fees if necessary) I was told to pick some dates and then call to make my reservation. The short story - They would provide Airline tickets from PHL to Orlando with a 3 hour layover in Detroit (8 hours total trip) the day before - NO hotel accomodations or transportation to and from the airport (which is 45 minutes from the cruise terminal) and the bottom of the ship Cabin with bunk beds for a low low price of $511.64. What happened to FREE????

you know everyone says this is a scam, well i won a trip too but how much do u really expect for free? i mean people are saying its a scam because they didn't get a window room or because they didn't get to fly out of the airport that they wanted...

if you want all the details to be of your choice then pay for it yourself and you can do what you want. i mean i won a cruise and for me its a chance that i wouldn't normally be able to afford so i'm not ***

Did the same seminar...office was very clean, people extremely nice...with an exceptional offer on the table...a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas for 2 paid for. Too good to be true?..Yeah, I thought so too.

DO NOT BUY INTO THIS SCAM...it's 2012 people NOTHING is FREE anymore and to my knowledge ever was free...the old adage holds its' credibility...if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

Look at all the complaints on the numerous different websites...pay attention to Spirit Incentives and Sundace Vacation responses...they have about 10 different generic responses that they post none of which are geared specifically for the complainant other than the complaintants name(s). Save your $198 and take whoever you were going to go on this "free cruise" with to dinner and a movie and still return home with money, a full stomach, some laughs and memories becuase no one can take those away from you.

so I went to see Disney on Ice and I gave my phone number on a entry sweeptakes, they called and told me about how i won a free 3 night stay in Miami or The Bahamas, they said that they were with Sundance Vacations, right away I google them and went to pissedconsumer.com and search them, and here I am. well, it's not my first trip here, since I too went to a 90 minuter timeshare scam, I'm not going for it.

Wants to allow cancellation but keep over $2500

In October 2009, I fell hook line and sinker for what was presented to me as a fabulous deal. Unfortunately, much to my dismay, here I am 2 years later and trying to cancel my contract and finding that this contract was misrepresented and had so many omissions to begin with some may consider it not even a valid contract. I remember clearly asking the salesman several things, first I asked if this was a Time Share, I was told No. I also asked if this was a BBB acredited business, I was told yes. After much research I have found that not of those things are true. Not to mention that this whole started from a telemarketing call about a cruise I won. My phone number has been on the DO NOT CALL registry since 2007. The relentless messages left by the "Sprint Incentives' caused me to call just to get these people to stop calling. I made an appointment to meet at their Downers Grove Location and cancelled my first appointment with several calls to reschedule. At the second appointment, it turned out to be a high pressured sales pitch where so many things are thrown at you that you really are spinning a bit and quite unclear of what they just told you. None the less I signed, only after trying to contact them to cancel did I research this place. Unfrotunately this was 2 years later and due to financial difficulties. I have been counter offered to lower my packages and payments but have not been able to reach an amicable agreement with these people. I was last told today in an email that if I cancel, I will not recieve a refund? I have paid to date $2194 to Tri State Financial (which is owned by the same people) and $450.53 to Travel Advantage. I am supposedc to just walk away form over $2500 and let them keep my money when I have never used their services? I am a little irked how they think this may be fair or that it should be acceptable. By all means if I used your service to begin with, maybe there would be some sort of money I would owe them. I did attempt a few different times to try to book some weeks. You are told up front that there is a $99 booking fee and if you choose to go in "peak season" this would be $30 a day additional. What they fail to mention is that most of the time you are in "peak season" and the majority of the time the place you want to go is unavailable for the time you want. I have seen so many others with the same situation with this company or companies, since they are all the same. I wonder how it is that they get away with this. I have worked customer serveice for almost 20 years, I know for a fact that contracts can be cancelled and full refunds can be given. I am wondering why they think I would be foolish to just give up that money? As a single parent and a soon to be student I surely do not have the means to throw money away like that. Since I can't seem to get anywhere with this, I think the next step it to contact a consumer rights attorney. I have also been in contact with someone in the same near area as me and they have offered her the same cancellation agreement, I am sure we can get together when I speak to this attorney. Unfortunately she was taken for alot more than me. It's really sad when a company takes advantage of the unkowing and feels they can just take money from people. My advise when you hear about these companies "Sundance Vacations, TAN Travel Advantage Network, Tri State Financial and Sprint Incentives" run as fast as you can... the contract is not at all what it seems

Sundance Vacations Phony Free Cruise Promise

We knew what we were getting into after we received the "you won a Free cruise" phone call. But we still decided to listen to the hour long program and the pitch for us to buy the vacation program.

The pitch was not hard core which we appreciated and for what it is worth, if you are avid travelers and vacation ALOT - this may be a good idea. Think of it like the Costco of Vacations. However we were not financially able to plop down money or take on more monthly payments so we politely said no to all of their offers.

But we still were getting a free cruise - so I was excited about that. Until I get on the phone at reservation time only to find out that NOTHING is free. We were aware of the taxes and fees that we would have to pay - and that was cool. But unless you want a cabin with bunk beds and you are OK with traveling when they tell you and you are ok with paying for a hotel the night before the cruise and night after the cruise returns and paying for transfers to and from port and hotel …all which adds up to almost an additional $250 pp...then this is the incentive for you.

I ended up canceling our free voucher for a cruise knowing that I could book a cruise for less than $250 a person and fly as cheap as $100 roundtrip and PICK the dates and flights that work best for me.

Not too mention I spent over an hour on the phone with the reservation people...25 minutes on hold waiting for a representative and another 45 minutes of them trying to get reservations.

Bottom line- take it with a grain of salt....they will try to make it as inconvenient as possible so you will make upgrades and forget that you are slowly but surely spending almost a $800-$1000 on your so-called FREE cruise!

I'm the former Director of Marketing for Travel Advantage Network (TAN). TAN is the company that provides the "vacations" that Sundance Vacations sells. The two companies are separate in name only.

They DO NOT explain the full details when they are selling it. For example, they tell you there are seasonality fees, but they don't tell you HOW OFTEN they'll be required. They will NEVER show you a complete list of their properties before you sign their contract, which they will fight you to cancel once you realize how bad the product is for yourself. They nickel and dime you to death, and they don't tell you that Tri-State Financial is NOT a 3rd party lending arm, it's RUN OUT of the SAME OFFICE as Sundance.

It's all an elaborate network set up to confuse and deceive consumers from who they truly are. Signed up to win a car? Yep, that would be Dowd Marketing. Get a call about a cruise? Yep, that would be Dowd Marketing. Go into the sales presentation, yep that would be Sundance Vacations (owned by Dowd.) Take out a "loan" for your vacation package, yep, that would be Tristate, also owned by Dowd.

Like I said, they have their hands in your pockets from every angle you can think of, and in the end, you're stuck in a vacation club where you can ONLY go to the properties they have and the times they have available, at the mercy of all their additional fees and having to pay annual service fees. Meanwhile, all your friends are going wherever they want, finding far cheaper prices and don't have to pay any loan payments or annual membership fees - because they are just using the internet. The one place Sundance STAYS AWAY FROM. I wonder why?

I reported directly to the owner of TAN, trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what these companies are really up to.

Guest

Please be very cautious of this company (Sundance Vacations)...it is a SCAM!!! To start off, they offer you this "free" trip which is all actuality is a bunch of ***.

I had to pay $198 upfront to confirm my certificate for the trip and once they finally sent me the link to make arrangements for my trip, the dates they GAVE where not acceptable. They wouldn't allow you to schedule your own dates for the trip which would correspond with your schedule. My other gripe is that I did unfortunately sign up for one of their vacation packages, which too turned out to be a scam. When you go into their site, the vacation locations available are places that I would never consider going for a vacation.

This company is so BOGUS! Now I am in a fight to get the contract terminated which they are giving me such a hard time to do. So now, not only am I stuck in this contract for $2000, but will probably have to pay for a lawyer as well.

Please...just stay away!!! :(

Everyone who fills out a sweepstakes entry is offered a free trip. This is a very old ploy-scheme.

Not to mention that they are selling your contact information from your sweepstakes entry.

So, you think you have won a free trip. Guess again. There are many hidden fees associated with this company.

There fees associated with the presentation-cruise and also with their time-shares that they advertise as vacation-packages. The Sundance company will sell unsuspecting folks vacation-packages comprised simply of "weeks" without any reservations at the time of sale. What does this mean to the consumer...

It means you have purchased an amount of time, with an expiration date, within a travel-network that may not have accommodations in the locations or time frames in which you wish to travel. There is a possibility that you will never use the majority of the "weeks" purchased with in the Sundance/TAN network.

Doesn't give what they say

TAN sold us these vacations but never told us of the peak season fees. My wife is a teacher and for us to go on vacation it is always in the peak season. In order to book something you have already paid for you have to pay an additional $800 plus the monthly fee on top of the $10,000 you already paid. It is a major scam. I file with the BBB because no one else can help me. Stay away from this company. Their customer service also terrible. I was transferred to 5 different people when I tried calling them.

All fees are located and gone over with you in your contract. You also initialed and signed approving the fees.

This is part of every contract we issue at every sale. If you have trouble finding it on your contract, please feel free to call me at 1-80*-***-****x1182 and I will help you find not only the fees but where you signed it saying you agree.
